Extra-Curricular

Students are encouraged to participate in as many extra-curricular activities as possible, regardless of prior experience.  Trying new activities is important in the growth of our students.

We offer a variety of extra-curricular activities for the students to participate throughout the school year. This year we are offering basketball (grade 5 and 6), cross country (grades 4-6), volleyball (grade 5 and 6), and track and field (grades 4-6). In addition, we have Hiking club for all grades. Hiking club is Tuesdays after school. For students below grade 3 an adult supervisor must attend with the student. Mondays at lunch is making space club in the Library and Floor Hockey in the gym. Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch Grade 3/4 students are welcome to play sports in the gym or join Ms. Jaclyn for Indigenous activities in the Indigenous Room. Wednesdays at lunch students are able to join Library Helper Club or Kindness Club. Gaming, Book and Art Club is every Friday at lunch.  If you would like to volunteer to help with any of the above activities or would like to organize an activity yourself, please make an appointment with the principal. At Hatzic we believe that it takes a community to engage and teach our children and youth, and this is one of many ways that you can help.

For Grade 5/6, basketball and volleyball, district leagues are organized, and students have the opportunity to compete with teams from other schools in our district. Coaching is provided by volunteers (teachers and parents). For parents who have the time and the interest, this is one of many wonderful ways to make a contribution to our school community. In April and May, track and field is the focus. Students in grades 4 to 6 who are interested, have the opportunity to compete in the district elementary track and field meet in May.

Encourage your child to participate in these wonderful opportunities.  At Hatzic we take pride in our Huskies for their level of participation, sportsmanship and skills demonstrated by them.
